We are full-service preventive and therapeutic southeast Houston cardiology practice. Our group takes pride in providing high-quality, patient-focused care. We believe that prevention is a vital part of treating patients with cardiovascular disease. Hence, we offer a comprehensive range of screening and diagnostic imaging services to identify risk factors and disease at the earliest possible stage. These services range from simple screening exams to state-of-the-art, 64-slice CT coronary and peripheral vascular angiography. Our goal is to prevent a stroke or heart attack before it happens, as well as reducing their severity if they do.

With increasing public awareness of the need for cardiovascular care and a growing inclination towards heart healthy foods and exercise, cardiovascular practice continues to grow � as does the technology for non-invasive cardiovascular care and preventive medicine. On any visit to our office, the patient will become intimately acquainted with the compassionate and caring environment we strive to create. Oftentimes, what they do not see, however, are the technologists who perform ultrasound imaging scans, digital x-rays and a whole array of new non-invasive procedures that are revolutionizing the way in which cardiovascular medicine is practiced. Ahmed Ahmed, M.D., FSCAI -
Clinical Faculty at the University of Texas Medical Center School of Medicine

Dr. AhmedDr Ahmed Ahmed, now part of the Clinical faculty at the University of Texas Medical Center School of Medicine, earned his Medical degree in Kar El-Einy Medical School, Cairo University where he graduated with honors, he completed his Internal Medicine Residency training in the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and went on to join the Cardiology Fellowship program in the University of Missouri in Columbia.

Dr Ahmed subsequently pursued advanced training in the Cardiology Subspecialty of Interventional Cardiology in the where he received specialized training in treating blocked arteries in the heart and legs with state of the art technology and devices.

Dr Ahmed is a Diplomat of four prestigious Board Certification including Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular disease, Interventional Cardiology and Nuclear Cardiology.

Dr Ahmed has very extensive and solid background in the Cardiovascular disease screening and management and in cooperation with the American College of Cardiology he published and presented in numerous esteemed Medical Journal and National Cardiology Conferences including the American College of Cardiology and the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics conferences, he received several Excellency Awards to include “3rd Annual Cardiology Fellows Forum of Excellence Award” American Heart Association 2003 and “Young Investigator Award”. First Annual Cardiology Fellowship Conference, Cardiology 2004.

Dr Ahmed is especially interested in cardiovascular risk factors including hypertension, diabetes mellitus and high Cholesterol and their effects on the heart and the use of new devices and stents to treat heart arteries and peripheral vascular diseases.

Mohamed Shalaby, M.D, F.A.C.C.

Dr. ShalabyWith his extensive educational background and specialized training in comprehensive cardiovascular care, Dr. Shalaby offers a wealth of knowledge and expertise to patients seeking exemplary heart and vascular health care in Southeast Houston.

Dr. Shalaby earned his medical degree from the University of Cairo, Egypt, before completing his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Missouri, Columbia. He completed his cardiology fellowship training in the world-renowned Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. While there, he was privileged enough to come under the direction of the nation's most esteemed cardiologists.

Dr. Shalaby is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac Echocardiography. He is a member of most cardiology and scientific associations, along with being a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Shalaby practices a wide range cardiovascular medicine with special interest in new technologies in cardiac imaging, including cardiac CT and cardiac MRI. He has also obtained specialized training in peripheral vascular disease diagnosis and management.

Dr. Shalaby had long experience with early detection of cardiac disease and preventive Cardiology. Dr Shalaby has designed multiple cardiac wellness and preventive programs that employs educations, diet, exercise, behavioural therapy and life style modifications to prevent and reduce the severity of heart disease.

Dr. Shalaby's work on early detection, weight reduction and fitness programs has saved the lives of many and changed the lives of large number of his patients and friends.

This dedicated professional is a staff cardiologist at the Texas Heart Institute, the St. Luke Hospital, Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, Memorial South East Hospital, St. John Hospital and the Mainland Medical Center.

Dr Shalaby lectures on the local and national level about early detection of heart disease, weight loss and Cardiac disease, Exercise and wellness programs and a wide variety of Cardiac health related topics.

 

Walid M Hassan, MD, FAHA, FACC, FCCP, FACP, FSCAI

Dr. HassanDr. Walid Hassan is a world recognized interventional Houston Cardiologist for complex coronary interventions, valvuloplasty, and percutaneous aortic and pulmonary valve implantations. Dr. Hassan, a native of Egypt, received his undergraduate and Medical Degrees from Cairo University. He then went on to complete his residency at the renown State University of New York at Stony Brook, Nassau County Medical Center. His Cardiovascular Post-Doctoral Fellowship took place at the University of Missouri Columbia where he began his academic career as an Assistant Professor and later an Associate Professor and Director of Cardiac Intensive Care at University Hospital Columbia Missouri. For ten years, he joined the world famous King Faisal Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as a Medical Director of Cardiac Catherization and Interventional Cardiology and later as the Head of Adult Cardiovascular Diseases Department. Dr. Hassan, among other colleagues helped establish the King Faisal Heart Institute, a state of the art heart center in the Middle East. He also continued his academic teaching at Al Faisal University -a Harvard Affiliate, as a Full Professor of Medicine.
 
Throughout his career, he has had the honor to visit, provide lectures, and perform complex procedures in various countries such as: Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Korea, Switzerland, Belgium, Singapore, Turkey, Greece, as well as Egypt, Yemen, U.A.E., Tunisia, Bahrain, and Jordan.
 
Dr. Hassan is a member of 37 International Scientific Societies and Associations including serving as Governor of the Council of International Regents and Governors
of The American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP). He is on the Editorial Board and is a Reviewer for 27 International Journals. Dr. Hassan has 365 Published Articles, Abstracts, and Presentations and received numerous national and international awards including the American Heart Association and American Medical Association outstanding awards. Dr. Hassan is a Diplomat of American board certification in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology.
 
Beside his clinical interests in Diabetic Heart Disease, Percutaneous Coronary / Vascular / Valvular and Structural Intervention, percutaneous Aortic and Pulmonary Valve Implantation his research interests include Platelet aggregation, Inflammation, Cell therapy, Coronary Flow and Physiology.
